The first month of school is over and it is time to say THANK YOU! Thanks to all the parents, artists, trustees and guarantors, students and community members, too numerous to mention, who worked so tirelessly to get us up and running. Thanks to the teachers and staff for their tremendous efforts in curriculum implementation and collaboration. Thanks to our clergymen for their support and guidance. Thanks to the merchants and businesses in the community that have so graciously donated furniture and supplies. Transformation is gritty work; luckily we have a community that is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and work on behalf of children.
I would especially like to thank all of the parents who have attended our Monday morning assemblies and stayed to chat and have coffee with me. Your input is invaluable. Over sixty parents attended our Fall Forum—proof positive that we are a community that cares. That being said, there are even more people to thank.
Thanks to Dr. Mary Zeltman for her leadership in curriculum implementation, Sherry Shapiro for her art expertise, Paul Matwyshyn and Eric Fuoco for guiding students in their research for science fair, and Debbie Ponczak for assisting 7th and 8th graders sharpen their writing skills. Look for many more “experts” in the field gracing us with their support.
Transforming a school illustrates the importance of aggressively and comprehensively investing in a school to achieve amazing results. School revitalization requires participation by those who live and work in the neighborhood. All have a stake in the school.
